I had the honor of presenting a workshop to #JTAT (Japanese Teacher’s Association of Texas) members for their second online workshop of the year. The workshop’s title was “Get the most out of Figjam!” and I did what I could to introduce how amazing the platform is, and how teachers can draw inspirations from teacher community as well as manipulate the templates to their liking. I shared as much as I could and I hope the peeps at #Figjam would approve of what I did to spread the love. I really enjoy using figjam to make collaborative space for my learners, and I wish I could use it to teach all of my classes. I use it for my private lessons and my students love it.
The workshop was held online because it is the organization’s budget-cutting measure to host online workshops. Well, I’m serving as the secretary for the board for the second year, but I honestly hope the organization can pay for these speakers. No one wants to do these for free.
I proposed to help write for the funding for this year’s workshops, so hopefully we’ll attract more interesting guest speakers. Hopefully the organization will invite teachers from other languages, because there are so much to learn from other #LOTE teachers!!
I’ll post later here for any one who’d love to snag the activity examples I shared with the workshop. Post a message to let me know! I honestly have no idea if you’d be able to if you’re not in it with me. Perhaps just post it to the community? I’ll try.
